Steven Singer Jewelers brand licensing case study
Beloved licenses. real roses. One Jeweler.
Steven Singer Jewelers came to Born to License with a clear vision for pairing timeless jewelry with beloved characters. Since their licensing debut with Care Bears, their licensed rose designs have become a signature of the brand.
LICENSES:
Steven Singer Jewelers is a family-owned and family-run jeweler based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded by Steven Singer in 1980, the business has built its reputation on real, natural diamonds, transparent no-haggling pricing, and a 100-day, 100% money-back guarantee. Known for their 24K gold-dipped roses, Steven Singer Jewelers pairs old-school jewelry expertise with a flair for the unexpected, making it a natural home for licensed collectible designs.
THE RESULTS
Introduced collectible, limited-edition roses that turned single purchases into dual ones, doubling average basket size from $100 to $200. Studio partnerships opened the door to celebrity gifting moments and publicity that money canβt buy, putting the Steven Singer name in front of a national audience.

Steven Singer Jewelers came to Born to License to help them enter the world of entertainment licensing for the first time. With no prior experience navigating licensors, style guides, or approval processes, they needed an expert team to guide them through it.
We started by getting to know the licensee inside and out: their products, their customer base, and their vision for what licensing could do for the brand. That groundwork let us build a shortlist of properties that felt like a genuine fit, rather than a stretch.
-
With the right licenses identified, we built pitches covering everything a licensor looks for in a proposal, presented them directly, and answered every question that came up before moving into commercial negotiations. We managed the License Agreement process from end to end, demystifying standard licensing terms for a licensee encountering them for the first time and making sure everyone was aligned before signing.
-
Once each license was signed, we gained access to style guides and assets, walking Steven Singer Jewelers through the full range of creative possibilities and working with each Licensor to identify the assets best suited to their rose designs.
Packaging, tags, and marketing materials were submitted in stages through each Licensor's approvals platform. We managed the process closely, refining anything unlikely to gain approval before it was ever submitted and keeping production moving efficiently and on schedule.
-
Each collection launched across the licensee's website and social channels, with the debut Care Bears rose priced at $89.95. We coordinated closely with licensor and licensee marketing and social teams to maximize visibility at launch, and organized press outreach that landed coverage across a range of industry publications.
-
We continue to manage reporting obligations, including quarterly royalty reports, and remain on hand for anything the Licensee needs throughout the life of each license.
Building on the success of Care Bears, and eager to tie their rose collection to a major pop culture moment, Steven Singer Jewelers partnered with us again to license Wicked. Fans quickly proved the appetite was there. As anticipation built for Wicked: For Good, Steven Singer Jewelers worked with Born to License once again to bring a new rose collection to life that stays true to the story's themes of friendship and courage while marking the film's milestone release.
βWe were brand new to licensing and reached out to Born to help us navigate and grow. They have their finger on the pulse of the licensing world and were crucial to our growth in the space. We look forward to many successful partnerships through them in the future. I can't recommend them enough.β
