Born to License signs first license for Unisnacks

We supported Unisnacks with their first licensed for the Kato range, the number one fruit juice beverage brand from Thailand.

Born to License is thrilled to announce that Unisnacks, a leading distributor for global food in the UK, partnered with Care Bears for their first ever UK beverage range, with the launch of a licensed Kato drinks range. Kato, the number one fruit juice beverage brand in Thailand, is a refreshing and tropical beverage that combines the natural flavour of fruit with the chewy texture of nata de coco. The range includes seven different flavours (strawberry, lychee, orange, mango, melon, peach, watermelon), with each flavour being carefully matched to a different Care Bear.

Care Bears seemed like the perfect match for Kato, given the IP’s multigenerational awareness, evergreen appeal and huge popularity in the UK and worldwide. Given the variety of Care Bears characters, there is also a strong collectable factor which will encourage consumers to try all the different Kato flavours. The products were showcased for the first time at the BBC Good Food Show Winter in November 2024, and will be available for sale across the UK from January 2025.

Born to License managed the licensing process from start to finish.

The Born to License team identified the right property for Unisnacks and negotiated the commercial terms and managed all other aspects of the licensing business on their behalf. This included managing the release of the assets, the product development process and royalty reporting management.

The product development process took the products to the next level.

We aimed to bring the nostalgic charm of the Care Bears to life in the Kato range. We worked on combining the vibrant packaging with playful, character-inspired flavours, we created a range that feels like it was made in the Care Bears’ magical world. It’s a perfect blend of fun, colour, and deliciousness that fans of all ages will love.
